On the Road Again with BioWillie
Music legend and environmentalist Willie Nelson not only endorses vegetable oil-based fuel, he also formed the Willie Nelson Biofuel Company to distribute his own blend of biodiesel fuel called BioWillie.
- BioWillie is composed of 20% biodiesel and 80% diesel or B20. Although it is marketed towards truckers, it will work in any diesel-powered vehicle without the need for fuel system modification.
- The Willie Nelson Biodiesel Company linked up with the Sphinx Company, a petroleum product seller in the southeast U.S., to open up future refueling stations across the East Coast. Currently, Earth Biofuels owns the BioWillie brand but a Chapter 7 bankruptcy case has been filed against the company.
- Carl's Corner Truck Stop near Hillsboro, Texas, was the first BioWillie refueling station and serves as the company's headquarters. Other refueling stations are located in South Carolina, and the company is in talks with Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores to distribute BioWillie in 169 locations across the country.
- Willie Nelson is also a defender of family-based farms and the creator of Farm Aid, a fund to allow farmers to keep their lands. Furthermore, BioWillie is produced from feedstocks that come from American farms.
